The Quality Control Department, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam is the main organizer. The selected students have to pass 3 rounds of competition. The first round is hosted by regional/provincial education departments around October - November of each school-year. The second and third rounds are hosted by the Quality Control Department, Ministry of Education and Training. The second one is hold in January - February and the third in March - April yearly.
Around 5000 students as a sum-up from 63 regional/provincial competitions.
Round 1 and Round 2 by short-answer essays, Round 3 by multiple choice , short-answer essay and practical questions. A group of high-school teachers and biologists nationwide (assigned by Ministry of Education and Training) prepare the test which are taken by all students (competitors) in schools.
The IBO preparing period is around 2 week in some universities and research institutions.

The winners will get certificates, free entrance to any universities they selectively register.
